With daily life revolving around a packed work schedule, Pallabi and Priyam wanted their home to be a fusion of a place where their Indo-contemporary style stood out and they could also stay connected to their roots.
Our team at Foyer2Attic took this very vision and made it into a reality for this happy and jovial couple from Kolkata. Keeping their moderate budget range and aesthetic preferences in mind, we started this journey of transforming their home into an Indo-Contemporary paradise with a pinch of some authentic Indian elements.
Essentially known as the heart of a house, the living area of our duo’s home has been crafted keeping all the intricate details in mind. From the choice of posters to the complementing color combination of the cushions – each detail of Pallabi and Priyam’s living area adds up to deliver a holistic experience of modern meets traditional.
With a cool mix of international and national origins of the handicrafts; namely the regal African masks to little souvenirs collected from all around their homeland, the house seemed to come alive with a unique persona of its own.
The use of exquisite blue pottery tiles from Jaipur add a charming desi touch to the otherwise modern and chic TV unit. The same artistic tiles have been incorporated in the wash-basin area, to give it a more graceful look.
Since the couple wanted a style that was essentially a fusion of the two worlds : modern and traditional, we were sure to preserve the existing handicrafts collected by our duo over the years. This helped us add that extra pinch of traditional authenticity to their home, while creating a beautiful blend of modern and traditional styles.
Since the couple wanted a smooth mix of functionality and elegance, the same was delivered to them. A prime example of this can be seen in their kitchen, which is simple yet highly functional.
With dedicated shelves and drawers that allow for some picture-perfect organisation, a compact chimney as well as subtle shades of grey and beige for wall tiles – the kitchen in Pallabi & Priyam’s house most certainly is a treat to the eyes.
Keeping in mind our motto of delivering quality work without burning a hole in our clients’ pockets, our team decided to replace the use of solid wood with engineered wood in various finishes – which looks just as good if you’re on a budget.
The master bedroom is spacious and well-lit but that’s not all! The color of the walls, as well as the various shades of browns of the floor, furniture as well as the cabinet woodwork – complement each other extremely well. This bedroom has been modeled in a way that one is bound to feel much lighter and stress-free upon entering the same. What is the magical ingredient you ask? The minimalist design would be our answer.
To combat the busy life led by Pallabi and Priyam, this bedroom has been designed consciously to create an atmosphere of ease and healing. The chic bed lights, clean-cut modern style bed as well as singular accessories for the bedroom, allow it to be an area which remains clutter free – both physically and mentally.
Staying true to the overall fusion theme of the house, the second bedroom is a picture perfect representation of India’s vibrant culture and rich heritage. While the zen-like aura of the previous bedroom could be just what the couple might need after a long day at work, the lively and youthful colors of this bedroom ensure that no day remains boring.
Despite having been in the interior designing industry for nearly a decade now, we, at Foyer2Attic, still treat each new client just like our first one. Be it getting to know them and their vision for the house, or simply ensuring a smooth execution of the whole project- we take utmost pride in our work and promise to deliver the best!
It’s not just our clients who get a happy-ending, but we too carry the ever-growing satisfaction of turning people’s beautiful visions into a reality.
